This is a standard 28 pin female socket connector that allows you to plug your IC.
It mates very well with protoboards, where you don’t want to directly solder your IC. Instead solder one of these, so you can reuse your IC in other projects.
The pin spacing is the standard 0.1″ (2.54mm) so it works OK on most of the protoboards out there.
